There’s plenty to do this week before the holidays hit like a ton of yule logs. Here’s some of what we recommend:
Tue 12/19: Daymaker‘s sloppy punk starts a mosh pit at the Empty Bottle (1035 N. Western). The Reader‘s Noah Berlatsky writes, “[Erin] Daymaker’s a bit of a mess and a bit of a known quantity—snotty punk rawk bands are scattered across the midwest as liberally as abandoned industrial plants—but Delaney’s pissed-off charisma oozes from the recording, and the band embraces its underdog status with winningly mean-spirited resolve.” 8:30 PM, $7Wed 12/20: The kids at Horace Mann Elementary School (8050 S. Chappel) in South Chicago are trying to raise money for more instruments and supplies for their school band, the Marching Mustangs. Their winter concert trumpets their marching band with what instruments they do have. 4 PM, $3 suggested donation, $5 includes raffle ticket
